Description
Next weekend, on July 4th, thousands of officers will be standing along the side of the road at traffic stops or assisting disabled motorists. Far too many of these officers could unfortunately be involved in a near miss or struck-by incident.
Join CARFAX for Police for a collaborative session where a panel of experts will detail traffic incident management techniques that can help to reduce the occurrence of stuck-by incidents. Retired Sergeant Richard Bemis will be sharing his personal account of the circumstances leading up to a stuck-by accident he suffered in 2015; the emergency response; the long recovery and living with a spinal injury; the initial agency, peer and community support; and finally, the highs and lows of returning to his role as a Trooper.
Featured Speakers:
- Sergeant (Ret.) Robert Bemis
- Todd Leiss, Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Coordinator in the Traffic Engineering and Operations Department for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC)
Learn how to:
- Employ the latest roadside safety best practices
- Implement strategies to reduce the occurrence of stuck-by incidents

Presenter:
Lt. Michael Ledoux (Ret.)
